Michał Żak and Aleksander Dębicz are the authors of unique programmes based on the works of the most outstanding Polish composers. They reach back to its source - Polish folk music - while creatively developing the style. During their concerts, the artists reinterpret Chopin, Szymanowski as well as Górecki or Lutosławski, presenting their works in a completely new way. For his Chopin programme, flutist Michał Żak chose, among others, a copy of a flute from Chopin's time, whose characteristic sound transports the listener to the 19th-century Polish countryside. In turn, pianist Aleksander Dębicz plays a contemporary piano, which creates an interesting contrast with the historical flute (and dulcimer!). The musicians engage in a dialogue with each other, improvising in the language of the great Polish composers as well as their own. Thus, it is on the one hand a free and personal artistic statement, and on the other a modern in form attempt to enter the mind of Polish composers inspired by folk music. Michał Żak and Aleksander Dębicz have presented their musical vision at concerts organised by the Podlaski Cultural Institute and the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, among others.
